Keep Your Home Healthy

Odors, Floor Care & More!

A home that houses feline family members needs special attention and care to keep the home and everyone who lives in it
happy and healthy. Here are a few ideas to make things easier.

Tip TwoDecide the location of litter box(es) carefully. If at all possible, place the litter box in a room with a hard surface floor like linoleum or tile. This way, if your cats ever have any accidents, clean up will be much easier and is less likely to leave behind stains and/or odors. If you must place it in a room that has carpet, lay an old rug or rubber mat underneath for added carpet protection.

Tip TwoBuy covered cat litter boxes and clumping litter. Hooded litter boxes come in many sizes and styles. Whether you have one cat and want a small box or have 4 cats and want two XL boxes, buy one that is covered with a removal top lid. This way, if your cats "wipe" their paws off before leaving the box (and many do!) it will be on the inside of the box, not on a wall or other surface. This will also keep excess litter from getting on your floor.

Tip ThreeBuy a Quality vacuum for easy pet-hair pickup. Many vacuums are "weak" when it comes to removing cat hair from your carpets and furniture upholstery, and can become clogged, especially if you have long-haired cats and will be picking up thick fur. Empty your vacuum after each use so it won't become clogged, and consider paying a little extra for an extended warranty.

HELPFUL TIPS
For stains, use a carpet cleaner that applies heat. For odors, use an enzyme based cleaning fluid. For great results, we highly recommend Hoover SteamVac carpet cleaners and Odor Mute odor-killer products.
