How to Take Good Care of your Cat

Nutrition It is your job to feed your cat and do your best to provide them with the best nutrition possible. A large majority of vets recommend you leave bowls of fresh food and water out for your cat at all times rather than following the feeding schedules listed on pet food bags. This way, your cat eats only at will when they are hungry, rather than feeling compelled to finish an entire meal, and it tends to promote a healthy weight.
Note: Only dry cat foods should be left out all day.
When choosing a food for your cat, remember that foods and ingredients that are healthy for people are not always healthy for cats. For example, corn is a healthy vegetable for humans. Many cat foods also contain corn, but this is not part of a cat's natural diet. Cats are naturally meat-eaters, so read the ingredients label on cat food packaging and try to select a cat food with meat ingredients.
· Look for words like "chicken" and "turkey" (which indicate the foods contain REAL meat) rather than "chicken by-product" or "chicken bone meal" which are much less healthy nutrients.
You may also consider purchasing oat grass for pets at a local pet store to give your cats an occassional healthy green treat that they are sure to enjoy. Never feed cats grass from a lawn or yard that you did not buy from a pet store. It may have been treated with fertilizers which could be poisonous.
Love! Above all else, your cat needs your love and affection! Remember to pet and praise your cat often, and make sure you have cat toys and a scratching post, cat tree or window perch for your cat so they are happy and entertained in the home you share with them.
